This is my patriotic duty

I am all about freedom and liberty and financial prudence, but you can't fix 50 or 60 years of irresponsibility in 3 or 4 years, especially when it has just come to a head and completely blown up in someone else's face.
That being said, I am for steering this country back to a sustainable, long term period of growth.
The first thing that needs to happen is education. A large portion of Americans have either lost the ability to think critically, or they never had it. This is exactly what it sounds like. When someone makes a statement, you examine it critically. Does it sound true and correct? Does it make assumptions? Is this a hyperbole, or conjecture stated as fact? Is this person engaging in verbal manipulation?
Some issues can be easily verified, such as, "The sky is blue." Others, such as deeming one person the worst President of all time and another as the best, are not so simple, and take a lot of thought. Like others, sometimes, I get lazy and try to skip forward. If you are a good judge of character, trends, and a little probability, you might get away with it, but the best way is to examine theories, postulations and opinions with a critical eye. If it turns out the submitted information holds up, then it is safe to embrace that idea.
Education can happen anytime. People seem to think that can be postponed indefinitely with no consequence, but I have to tell you that it shows. It doesn't have to be formal education, but quit watching dancing with the stars and start exploring on the internet or pick up a book. It is a fascinating, huge world, and then there is the galaxy and universe(s), etc., or as microscopic as you want.
Once people get educated, they learn the value of life, and the insanity that results when people that can barely read are released into the herd.
